A passion for taste

Gourmets and gourmands at heart, we strive to pass on our passion for “good” taste. From the choice and selection of our raw materials to their processing and the recipes we develop, we leave nothing to chance to guarantee our consumers the best possible taste. No product leaves our workshops without being tested and validated by our teams.

Year after year, harvest after harvest, we evolve our products and create new recipes, according to our desires and the success of our producers.

Adventure in our DNA

Adventure runs through our veins. It's about pushing ourselves further, pushing our limits, always looking for new challenges. That's why we never put any barriers in our way. Tomorrow, with the same energy and enthusiasm, we'll be building other boats, a new workshop making chocolate and coffee even more responsibly and ecologically, and always striving to improve!

Adventure also means adapting, evolving and changing. As it has done from the outset, our project is always and constantly called into question. For example, over the years, we have gradually improved our carbon footprint. It’s an ongoing, lengthy and often tedious process that never ends. We’re constantly looking for ways to do better to limit our impact on the environment.

A sustainable development approach

The pillars of a sustainable development approach are reducing our impact on the planet; social well-being and equity; economic sustainability and maintaining jobs. At Grain de Sail, we pay close attention to all these aspects.

The cargo sailboat is a powerful symbol of our philosophy of respect for nature. Our partnerships to provide work and encourage the integration of disabled people are one of the foundations of our social approach, as is that of remunerating our suppliers fairly, particularly farmers in Latin America. Every day, Grain de Sail strives to maintain a balance between environmental, social and financial concerns, to continue to demonstrate that a company can be more virtuous.

Drawing inspiration from the past to build the future

“Retro-innovation” is what we call it internally. It’s a philosophy we’ve kept in mind throughout the development of our adventure. Using sailing ships to transport goods from one end of the Atlantic to the other – déjà-vu, isn’t it? Centuries after the Great Explorers, we’re still harnessing the power of the wind, but using the most up-to-date, innovative and modern technologies.

“Retro-innovation” also means choosing partners, producers and suppliers who still use ancestral know-how to produce the raw materials we need. We’re convinced that today’s best production processes are built by reinventing the past!
